It seems we oftentimes get caught in the trap of crafting ourselves into a kind of persona…one we’ve either invented out of desire, or observed elsewhere in the course of life. This is a great deal of time and energy spent, and potentially lost…energy, I suspect, that might be put to better use discovering who we really are (including our unique specialness and talents) and then learning to love that person.
Greatness cannot be created from self, only wealth and notoriety. But they are not one in the same. And besides, maybe Greatness, or Physical Beauty, if that is the goal, isn’t something we should be striving for in the first place.
