I’d like to share with you a passage I read this morning that moved me deeply. It is in a book of Psalms written by David, and speaks of the almost inconceivable mercy and love that God has toward us. As one who has failed Him so many times, in so many ways it is a reminder of the purest kind of love from a Father who, above all, wants us close to him…no matter what we’ve done.
The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He will not constantly accuse us,
nor remain angry forever.
He does not punish us for all our sins;
he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
For his unfailing love toward those who fear him
is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west
