Many Eyes

many-eyesData of any sort can be difficult to understand unless it’s properly visualized, such as with a well crafted chart or graph.  For those who enjoy sharing or consuming data Many Eyes offers a central hub.  It’s a place where data visualization and social media come together.  For those with something to share you can start by uploading your own data set (or even visualize an existing one in a new way).  Using the built-in tools craft your data into a meaningful, possibly insightful, visual graph for all to peruse.  Other users can comment and rate your contribution and those with the highest rating float toward the top.  For casual browsers I recommend selecting explore > visualizations then sorting by rating.  Find out where government expenses are allocated, which countries consume the most alcohol, which U.S. States have the highest emissions per capita…and a whole lot more.  Care to guess which class of Titanic passengers took the most casualties?  I bet you can’t.

Many Eyes is still in beta, and is brought to you by the Visual Communication Lab of IBM
